Years Of Experience
Biomass briquettes are made up of biomass materials, such as sawdust, agricultural waste, or forest residues, which can be used as a renewable and sustainable source of energy. Biomass briquettes have several advantages over traditional fossil fuels, including lower greenhouse gas emissions, reduced dependence on finite resources, and lower costs. They can be used in a variety of applications, including cooking, heating, and industrial processes. Overall, biomass briquettes are a promising and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
The project empowered food vendors famously known as "mamalishe",a petty women food vendors operating informally using of firewood and charcoal as fuel, this group represents more than 70% of food vendors in Dar-es-salaam. However, the project also empowers the chips vendors ,youth businesses operated informally mainly using charcoal and firewood as a fuel. trees are left standing to absorb more carbon. Based upon the quantities of trees saved by substitution with briquettes the carbon emissions would be lowered according to IPCC / OECD methodology. The impacts for replacing diesel and dirty oil fuel burners were not established, the same as the treatment of organic wastes avoid methane emission.
-It replaces diesel and dirty oil burners from industries which emits CO2 to atmosphere
it avoid the cutting down of trees and therefore preserve forests by replacing charcoal fuels used by food vendors with briquettes fuels.
Avoids Methane GHGs emission by collecting and processing organic wastes to briquettes fuel.
The current production of 1,800 tons of briquettes per year could lead to the replacement of 10,400Cubic meters of fuel wood. Based upon the quantities of trees saved by substitution with briquettes fuel the carbon emissions lowered by 1,870tC/yr according to IPCC/OECD methodology.
